More attempted attacks on dogs
Not much that needs to be said, because you've probably already heard about the attempt to harm more dogs at a City of Portland Park. How long is the Parks Bureau going to do the bidding of these thugs? And at what point will they take the same sort of drastic measures to protect dog owners that they took by restricting all off-leash activities because of the behavior of a small few? Remember, these guys are doing malicious and deliberate acts targeting owners and their pets.

So lemme get this straight... If we want to exercise our dogs at a regular neighborhood park off-leash during fall and winter without fear of repercussion, we have to do it after dark when we can't see well enough to check the shrubbery for poisoned chicken carcasses? Thanks a lot, guys...
An excellent point. And with designated off-leash areas that force higher concentrations of dogs in just a few places, it makes for even easier targets.
Also, sometimes when a particular field is too muddy for a ballgame, they'll move it to a new field. Does anyone know if there are provisions to provide new space for Willamette Park users now that theirs is contaminated?
The Parks Dept website bulletin about Willamette Park only has a list of other nearby off-leash areas; nothing about designating a new area for regular users.
The concentration of dogs-as-targets in off-leash areas is a huge concern. I'd rather risk taking my dog to a park that's secluded enough so I can get away with taking her off-leash illegally than risk taking her to a place that could easily become the next Laurelhurst or Willamette.
BTW, I filled out the Off Leash survey at the Parks site and gave them an earfull in their comments section.
Oh, and thanks for this blog -- I just found it two days ago. Keep up the good work!
I sure will. They said the test results would take about 10 days to come back. As soon as I know, I'll post them on this website.
